Who we are
For more than 20 years, Web Ascender has helped organizations turn ideas into websites, web applications and mobile apps. Along the way we’ve watched a lot of first releases succeed, and a lot of them stall. The products that win get something real in front of users quickly, learn from them and keep going.
AI has changed what’s possible. Today, an experienced engineer directing a team of AI agents can design, build and test software at a pace that used to require an entire department. Agents write most of the code and the tests. Our engineers bring the judgment: what to build, how to architect it and whether it’s good enough to ship.

Web Ascender was founded by Ryan Doom and Kevin Southworth, who have been building software together for more than 20 years.

President & Co-founderSince 2006
Ryan co-founded Web Ascender and has spent more than 20 years designing, developing and shaping internet strategy. He has helped startups, non-profits and international manufacturers like Meritor, Caterpillar and Bridgestone solve tricky technical, marketing and business automation problems. A Michigan State Computer Science alum, he's always up for an outdoor adventure, from flying airplanes to mountain biking.
Vice President & Co-founderSince 2006
Kevin co-founded Web Ascender and leads development and operations. A Michigan State Computer Science graduate with a minor in Business and Telecommunications, he brings an intense curiosity for all things technology and a passion for finding the right technical solution for every client. Off the clock, he's a fan of cheesy sci-fi and action movies.
Senior Developer / Sys AdminSince 2008
Matt has worn nearly every hat at Web Ascender, from designing websites to building web applications to running server administration. He even helped grow revenue for our Boast product by more than 25% by split-testing and improving its pricing page. His favorite part of the job is finding new ways to make clients' lives easier.
Senior DeveloperSince 2016
Joel came to web development by way of video production and never looked back. With a knack for problem-solving and learning new technologies, he loves taking a difficult idea and turning it into an application that makes things easier for our clients. Outside of work, you'll find him following the Red Wings or playing guitar and drums.
Associate DeveloperSince 2025
Xander graduated from The Ohio State University in 2025 with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. A lifelong programmer, he enjoys building tools that simplify and automate tasks. In his free time he's rock climbing, snowboarding or building something new.
Senior Web DeveloperSince 2009
Kyle brings 15+ years of industry experience and a knack for overseeing projects from start to finish. A Michigan State graduate in Telecommunications, Information Studies and Media, he enjoys every new challenge a project brings. He also produces electronic music and sings in local choral groups.
